Beautiful and truly detailed pendant, made of 925s Sterling Silver!
Beautiful jewelry inspired by "The Welschingen-B" bracteate was found in the 6th century. The original piece of jewelry was discovered in southern Germany, but the exact location is unknown.
The motif possibly depicts one of the fate goddesses Urd, Verdande, and Skuld, whose names mean past, present, and future. According to mythology, these goddesses come from Urd's well at the foot of Yggdrasil and spin the threads of human life. They often appear in connection with births and are said to determine how long one lives and how one's life will unfold.
Since it is not known for sure, it is also possible that the motif depicts the goddess Frigg. Frigg is Odin's wife and the mother of Balder, and in Norse belief, she represents marriage, motherhood, and grief over her deceased son. Her name possibly means "the beloved," and Friday means Frigg's day.
This amulet is, with its meaning and history, a truly fascinating piece of jewelry for anyone interested in the Viking Age and Viking jewelry!
This pendant has a diameter of 2.3cm. The hole for the chain is approximately 3mm in size, and all chains that are 3mm or smaller will fit this pendant.
