When the Danes transitioned from Norse paganism to Christianity, many of the pagan symbols were gradually replaced with Christian crosses. These appear among other things as jewelry and have been worn as a sign of one's faith.
This cross is a replica of a find from Lillegærde, Østerlars on Bornholm. The original piece of jewelry is dated to around 1100-1300 and was thus produced relatively shortly after the official end of the Viking Age, which is often dated to the year 1066.
The design of the jewelry is simple yet incredibly beautiful. This replica beautifully recreates the skilled craftsmanship that produced the original piece. The pendant is made of bronze like the original.
The pendant is 34 x 27 mm
