A beautiful and authentic piece of jewelry with Nordic roots!
This pendant is a copy of a genuine find. The original is the hanging cross from the Hiddensee treasure, which was found in Germany in 1872-1874. The treasure is believed to date from the year 970-980, i.e. the Viking Age, and is now on display at the Cultural History Museum Stralsund in Germany.
The motif consists of three small crosses at the ends of the arms of a larger cross. The crosses are all tied together by the same curved "ribbons", which are very reminiscent of Celtic knots. At the top of the cross is a bird's head on a hammer-like shape.
This find is something very special due to the materials and the motif itself, and similar jewelry has only been found in Haithabu (Hedeby in Danish) and York, both in Germany.
The pendant measures 37 x 37 mm and is made of steel. A steel chain with a diameter of 4.5 mm is included.
