Brooch with twisted Viking pattern made of beautiful bronze.
This brooch is inspired by similar symbols found, among other places, at churches throughout Denmark.
The motif here has four "corners" that represent the seasons, the elements (water, earth, fire, and air), and the cardinal directions. Therefore, this motif symbolizes the cycle of life. Each of the four corners contains three edges each, which also held great significance.
The magical number 3 was significant for both the Vikings (the 3 worlds Asgard, Midgard, and Utgard) and Christians (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Therefore, triangular Knots, such as this one, gained great importance during the transition period from Norse mythology to Christianity.
This beautiful twisted pattern thus symbolizes life and the eternal universe, and from a historical perspective, it signifies unity and development.
