A petroglyph is a figure, animal or symbol painted or carved in wood, stone, rock walls or in caves. Rock carvings have been found all over Denmark and all of Scandinavia. These have had great significance for society and the people. The majority of the Danish rock carvings have been found on Bornholm, and it is believed that these motifs have had great cultural and religious significance, and they may have been used to communicate with the gods.
In this piece of jewelry, a petroglyph engraved in a Thor's hammer is seen, thus creating a meeting between two important periods in Scandinavian society and the development of faith in the North.
