The ring's design draws inspiration from a silver treasure found in Gotland, dating back to the Viking Age. The crystal is set in a four-part setting, symbolizing the four seasons and the cardinal directions.
The ring also features three small balls that represent the three great transitions in life - birth, death and the afterlife. In the Viking Age, the number 3 also symbolized the three worlds Asgard, Midgard and Utgard, and as the Danes became Christians, the number 3 became a reference to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
During the Viking Age, crystals were not only a status symbol and a valuable material, they were also probably used as magnifying glasses. The original piece of jewelry may have been a piece of applied art as well as a highly prized piece of jewelry.
The crystal has a diameter of 8mm, and the metal is genuine silver.
