This cross is a replica of a find from Gorm the Old's original burial site in Jelling.
The original behind this historical piece of jewelry was found in 1863 without a loop for the chain. It is believed that the North Mound was Gorm the Old's original resting place, where he was buried according to Nordic traditions around the year 959 by Harald Bluetooth, his son.
A few years later, Harald Bluetooth converted to Christianity and began converting the Danes. During this period, he reburied his father for the same reason. It is possible that this cross was placed in the grave after Gorm the Old was moved, as a sign of the transition to the new faith.
The original is made of gold-plated copper, and the replica is made of bronze.
The pendant measures 29 x 25 mm.
