Mjødgård Dolcevit Hekla - Distilled Mead (50cl)

At Mjødgård, only the finest raw materials and honey from local beekeepers are carefully selected to protect the fragility of nature and respect the cycle of life. Inspired by the old saying, "Where there is trade, there is waste," Mjødgård has found a way to use every golden drop and reduce waste, leading to a special journey – from the sweetness of mead to the warmth of spirits.

Mjødgård collects their surplus mead and sends it to Præstø, where Radius Distillery carefully distils it into an exclusive spirit. After distillation, this spirit is aged for at least three years in oak barrels before bottling, and each bottle is assigned a unique number as a reminder of its special character.

When the mead is distilled, only the essence remains, the very core of the drink, with a power and warmth reminiscent of the earth's inner glow that erupts in volcanic eruptions. For this reason, Mjødgård has named this spirit after the Icelandic volcano Hekla, as a tribute to the inner power of nature.

This spirit, called Dolcevit, is Mjødgård's own invention, carrying a longing for both sweetness and depth. Dolcevit can be enjoyed in many ways: mixed with tonic and lime for a simple and refreshing drink, with a touch of Ren Mjød for extra depth, or neat as a well-aged rum or whiskey, where its full character is allowed to emerge.

For the best experience, a whiskey glass is recommended so that Dolcevit can be enjoyed slowly, as befits an exclusive and long-aged spirit.
