Beautiful and authentic brooch with mythical creatures!
The piece of jewelry here is a museum copy, and the original was found in Lindholm Høje. Lindhold Høje is located in North Jutland, and although it has been known since the 19th century that the area had been a Viking burial ground, excavations only began in the 1950s. Here, among other things, the original behind this beautiful piece of jewelry was found, which is now on display at the Lindholm Høje Museum. It is believed that the original dates back to around the year 1100.
The brooch depicts a mythical creature surrounded by two snakes, and this motif can be interpreted as a symbol of the struggle between good and evil.
The brooch is 42 x 30 mm and is made of bronze.
