Beautiful pendant with authentic snake design!
This piece of jewelry is a replica of a genuine find. The original is made of gold and was found in Gørding on 10 February 2019 after lying in the ground for more than 1000 years. The pendant may depict a viper executed in fantastic detail and patterns.
The snake was of great importance to the Vikings both mythologically and symbolically. The probably most well-known snake is of course the Mediterranean Serpent, but the snake as a motif has been used often, as it can easily be portrayed in the form of circles, squares or religious symbols. It has also been believed that it was a serpent that guarded the underworld and that it was immortal as a result of its change of form.
The snake is therefore an important symbol and can, among other things, be used as an amulet for power, strength and a long life.
The pendant is 25 x 16 mm and is made of genuine 925s silver.
