In the Viking Age, it was the lady of the house who was responsible for the keys to the chests with the house's wealth, and she carried them in her dress. According to Viking myths, a Viking who wore a key as an amulet upon his death was able to open the Kingdom of Heaven and gain eternal life.
The stem that goes through the ear is made of gold-plated silver and is therefore nickel-free.
