Beautiful and simple pendant with great symbolic meaning!
The number 3 had great significance for the Vikings. The number represented both the Vikings' faith and worldview (the three worlds Asgard, Midgard and Utgard) and Christianity (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit). The number also appears as a symbol for the great transitions in life: birth, death and the transition to the next life.
The three overlapping triangles are a symbol called Valknut. This symbol has been found on Viking Age memorial stones found in Gotland and on grave goods found in Norway. The name Valknut was given to the symbol in recent times, as little is known about the original meaning of the knot. It is believed that Valknut is to honor fallen warriors, and therefore the knot with the three overlapping triangles is also called the Death Knot.
The pendant is 22 x 22 mm and is made of genuine 925s silver.
